Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, presented key advantages that position Dubai as a preferred hub for digital startups. He emphasized the emirate’s proactive measures to foster the growth of digital companies, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to generate AED100 billion annually through digital transformation projects.

Al Gergawi highlighted Dubai’s unique logistical connectivity, enabling expansion into international markets, and its culturally diverse social environment. With over 200 nationalities, world-class infrastructure, and modern lifestyle amenities, the city continues to attract top-tier talent in the digital and advanced technology sectors.

During the discussion, Al Gergawi noted that Dubai’s innovative business ecosystem supports entrepreneurs and companies through favorable legislation, infrastructure, and a strong culture of innovation. This further solidifies Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in the digital economy, enhancing its appeal for establishing and growing innovative digital startups.

A key part of the presentation was the App Olympics, a competition organized by Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. The initiative encourages global innovation, offering financial rewards and services worth $150,000 to develop winning mobile applications. The winners also benefit from a six-month mentorship program and a media support package, gaining access to a vast network of partners.

The App Olympics is part of the “Create Apps in Dubai” initiative, launched in 2023 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. This initiative, overseen by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, aims to increase the number of app developers in Dubai threefold by 2025 and support 100 new national projects in mobile application development. Additionally, the initiative seeks to train over 1,000 Emiratis through the Emirati Training Academy, focusing on coding, app development, and entrepreneurial models, further boosting Dubai’s global digital footprint.
