Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s ambassador to the United States, was recognized Monday for his steadfast and generous support of the memorial day parade since its inception in 2005, support that has been crucial to the parade’s survival and growth. President of the American Veterans Center, James Roberts, said during remarks during the parade that Kuwait has been a sponsor since the parade began in 2005. They’ve been with us ever since. Sheikh Salem attends the parade every year to express the gratitude of the Kuwaitis to the people of the United States for liberating their country.

Kuwaiti Ambassador to the US honored at Memorial Day ParadeIn the early years, the existence of this parade was tenuous from year to year. I frankly don’t know if we would be here today if it wasn’t for the steadfast support of the Kuwaiti people. Sheikh Salem was presented with a plaque at the parade to note his generous contributions. Ambassador Al-Sabah personifies the fraternal ties of friendship that bind our two countries and will never be forgotten for his support of the American Veterans Center and the military services of the United States, Roberts said.

“Kuwait will never forget what America did for us 32 years ago,” Sheikh Salem said in his remarks during the parade, which was watched by thousands of people across Kuwait. In addition, we are teaching our younger generations what America stands for and what it did for us through our gratitude for what you did and what you sacrificed,” he concluded.
