Rana Al-Fares, Kuwait State Minister for Communication and Information Technology Affairs, said on Sunday that a digital transformation is imperative to keep up with the meteoric advances in technology. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that shook the world, online virtual worlds skyrocketed in popularity as a result of the outbreak, said Al-Fares, also the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, in her remarks at the third GCC conference on artificial intelligence and technology.
It has now become a dire necessity to speed up the switch to technological means, the minister stated. She noted that the digital sector is expected to continue to grow due to its appeal to young entrepreneurs and fledgling businesses. The digital realm has surged in popularity across the Gulf region, including Oman, said the Sultanate’s ambassador to Kuwait Saleh Al-Khousi, saying the government aims to instill a sense of technological knowledge in young people. The conference will take place virtually until June 7th and will bring together top decision makers and officials from the Gulf.
