First Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, received the President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki. GSA Deputy Chairman, Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and CEO, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, in addition to the Advisor for the Development of School Sports at the Ministry of Education, Shaikh Saqr bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences, Dr. Leena Khonji, were present.
During the visit, Shaikh Khalid welcomed the UoB President and expressed his pleasure at UoB’s interest in sponsoring sports events for the benefit of sports in the kingdom. Shaikh Khalid discussed with the UoB President ways to improve the academic curricula of the Department of Physical Education at the College of Health and Sport Sciences. This is in line with the policies adopted by the General Sports Authority, and to improve collaboration between the GSA and UoB to develop the national sports system.
Shaikh Khalid directed UoB’s President to support both the university’s sports administrative and technical staff, as well as UoB athletes participating in sports events, in his directive. They will be motivated to succeed in sports events and achieve the highest results. Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised the appointment of the Advisor for the Development of School Sports to the Ministry of Education, wishing him success in the new role.
